Things have been positively insane around here what with all the new shops and restaurants to try and my job starting today (goodbye vacation!), so today I'm bringing you a sponsor spotlight post featuring Behind the Seam.
When the founder of Behind the Seam first reached out to me, I was intrigued by what she was selling - gently worn designer jeans with a story behind them. I've written an ode and a half on this blog about my Paige Denim jeans, with my only complaint being the hefty price tag (what girl can afford $170 dollar jeans without coupons, deep sales, and gift cards?!). Natalie feels the same way - loves the fit, feel, and design of designer jeans, but hates the price. She also had an ecologically conscious mindset when considering opening up a shop dedicated to designer jeans. She wanted to keep textiles out of landfills when she started her business selling jeans. Combining the environmentally conscious goals with her love of shopping, she created Behind the Seam.
But Behind the Seam isn't just about keeping clothing and textiles out of landfills (did you know that 2,500,000,000 pounds of used clothing ends up in landfills each year?!), it's also about the story behind a beloved pair of designer jeans. Natalie includes the previous owner's story about the jeans: where they came from, what someone did while wearing them, and the meaning behind the purchase and the sale. Some of the stories are fun, some funny, some touching, and some awesome (like the pair of jeans that traveled to the White House). The stories behind the jeans give you a sense of how far across the world one item of clothing can travel and the fact that it can travel further, and not into a landfill, with you.
Please be sure to check out Natalie's shop and the awesome prices (a pair of Citizens for $30 and a pair of 7's for $50 are just some of the amazing steals) on her designer jeans. It's certainly a cause worth celebrating. As a special treat to my readers, Natalie's offering 15% off a pair of jeans. Email her through Behind the Seam with the pair you'd like and mention Ladies in Navy to get your discount.
