Black Swan

Top: c/o Aeropostale; Skirt: c/o Lulu*s; Shoes: Asos c/o Chippmunk

My brother is in town this weekend and he was kind enough to take these photos today. He's so tall that he is actually the perfect photographer height - always taking photos from above me.

I am so thrilled to have him here and to have an excuse not to clean, catch up on shows, magazines, books, work on blog campaigns and take a billion photos that need to be promptly edited. I need a blog vacation folks - with my decreasing personal time, I am finding myself so strapped for time and stressed. We had a pile of dishes in the sink for almost two days before I had to come to grips with real life. Sometimes you need to set the computer down and realize that commenting on 150+ blogs a day is not the number one priority in life (and neither are dishes, but they need to rank somewhere on the list).

I've been so thrilled to see my blog grow over time. It has become something that I adore doing and has actually been helping with bills and providing some new outfits so that I don't need to shop as much. With increasing readership and increased sponsorship opportunities, though, has come increased stress. There are deadlines for campaigns, people to follow up with and giveaways to arrange, blogs to comment on, and friends to keep in touch with in the blogosphere. Phew. I feel like I have two eight hour jobs and I definitely need to come up with some time management strategies like you folks suggested on my post two days ago. But I need some time to come up with the time management... ack!

I don't know how the huge bloggers do it, but major kudos to everyone that's both working and working on a blog after work. You're all rockstars.

  1. I adore this outfit, it's so cute!

And I understand needing to take a break from blogging sometimes. You have a wonderful blog, but real life has to happen too. I took a break for a few days from commenting on other peoples blogs when my son started school and I'm just now managing to work it back in. I still feel overwhelmed with it all.

  2. I love the texture of the skirt; it really makes this outfit.

I know what you mean about the blog. I just moved myself and am completely overwhelmed with trying to get unpacked and work and blog. So the blogging part has definitely slowed down and I'm okay with that.

  5. I love the leather skirt, it's super cute! But I totally know how you feel with trying to balance it all. My job can get really stressful/time-consuming and then I try to keep up with my blog, not to mention all the other things in my life that come with trying to get settled in a new city. I think what makes it hard is that I genuinely want to do it all and I want to do it all well...and it's tough admitting that you just can't because there are only 24 hours in a day. So no need to apologize for the need to take a blogging break, I totally understand! xoxo

  7. Oh Kelsey how I sympathize with you. I already had two jobs BEFORE the blogging. It's a lot of pressure to keep up with the Jones' and promote and it's tough. I totally hear you though. Going to take a nice break myself next week when I go on vacation! :) Take a few days off - you deserve it!

  12. Blogging is definitely like a second job! I only work part-time so it leaves me some time every day for blogging...otherwise I could never do it!

  17. Time management (or lack of time) is a huge stressor for me! I'm trying to learn to keep it under control and realize that I can't be everywhere all the time and things WILL get done, but it is hard.

  19. I agree with you on so many levels - working a high stress full-time job, as a well as free-lance stuff and then the blog. There are never enough hours in the day. I definitely need to work on my time-managemet. Great skirt, I love the gold zipper details. And such cute little mint flats.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  22. I love the zipper details on your top! it goes perfectly with the leather skirt. Keeps it edgy but cute.

Im new to this blogging thing and I must say kudos to all of you! Balancing things is quite a struggle.

I really hope I can finally start getting some opportunities that come with it, so it doesn't feel like all the stress is for nothing lol!

  24. I have absolutely no idea how the big bloggers do it! I work full time so blogging can definitely never be more than a hobby for me, but I admire those who are able to blog so frequently! I love your blog and think you do a fantastic job. :-)
