I know that the seven-year itch refers to people becoming dissatisfied in their marriages after year seven, but this post is about me becoming dissatisfied with my immune-response system after... well, 25 years. The title just sounded catchy. But, I'm over it people. A multi-day hives fest has done me in. I had some kind of contact dermatitis/razor burn gone wild/skinny jean induced leg problem started on Thursday night after my work's annual Christmas party and has been driving me insane for the entire weekend. I've been pants-less and covered in hydrocortisone cream for the past 72 hours. A beautiful way to spend a partially-sunny weekend.

I suppose I got some cleaning done, some outfit posts taken in the moments when my antihistamines calmed down my on-fire legs, and made a crazy good batch of faux-snickerdoodles (apparently if you're not using cream of tartar, you're not making snickerdoodles) that'll soon appear on the blog, and I finished my Christmas wrapping, Christmas shipping, and binged some Gilmore Girls. But all in all, being covered in more hive-patches than I could count or gently pat (in lieu of scratching) enough to deter my body from freaking out, it wasn't an awesome weekend.

Quite possibly the best cure for my hives was this ultra-comfy and brand-new go-to dusty pink quilted sweatshirt and these pretty bordeaux "shooties" from the amazing folks at Rockport. The key to the sweatshirt's success was that it paired well with my nightgown AND will pair fantastically with skirts and jeans when I'm up and about. The key to the shooties? They are insanely comfortable, also pair well with a nightgown, and they don't touch any of my leg skin! Huzzah! But really, if you people without a cruel case of hives are looking for something to spice up your holiday season, I've got a coupon code for 25% off of Rockport shoes above. Check it out and don't let Christmas and New Years escape without a fantastic pair of shoes!

Looking for more red booties? Love these Matt Bernson booties (multiple colors) and some of the red tinged Frye options too!

  7. Ouch!! No fun! I wonder if daily application of coconut oil and/or shea butter would help in the future? Maybe you could try an aftershave like this? http://thepaleomama.com/2013/09/homemadeshavingcream/
