It has been a busy weekend with Ben's family in town and we're currently winding down their visit with a yummy bakery breakfast. I have some photos of this weekend that I'll post later this week, including an awesome trip to the Museum of Glass where we got to see some martini glasses being blown and formed. It's always so nice to see family, but tiring as you're entertaining from 8 a.m. to midnight. Daylight savings, as always, also threw me for a loop this morning and I was grateful to have taken a big nap yesterday after our activities to catch up on that hour.
I wore this outfit on Friday and it's pretty similar to some more recent looks, but these Gap always skinny velvet pants are essential to my Fridays. They look polished, professional and dark enough to pass off as a slack alternative. We are totally lucky to have casual fridays in my office (as some don't), but because I have to catch up on meetings on Fridays (I'm in the middle of a recruiting system implementation from Monday through Thursday), I am not able to truly harness the casual element of my Fridays. A blazer with dark wash jeans or these indigo velvet pants and heels often keeps me comfy, minimizes ironing needs, and still looks professional.
Also, though I don't wear it often, I think I love orange. A weird color to love and a hard one to work with (can't pair it with black) - it somehow makes me feel awake and happy!
