Blazer: Forever 21; Top: Gap (similar); Pants: Limited; Belt: H&M
I recently wore this look to work and had a hard time getting out of the house with it on as I kept passing the bathroom mirror and thinking: "I am committing every fashion faux pas... ever." The mix of black and navy, then the polka dots and stripes, and then the vertical jailhouse stripes on top of everything. Whoops! But it turned out to be one of the most complimented on looks I've worn in ages. Everyone loved the mix of prints and the colors, which took me by surprise. Sometimes it's worth it to push the envelope and disregard everything your mother taught you... sometimes!
At some point other offices on campus and my colleagues learned about my fashion blog, which was initially (and still is) horrifying to think about. I have a few colleagues that peer into my office in the morning to see what I am wearing for the day and often comment on the combinations. It's definitely increased the pressure of looking inventive with my clothes every day, though it does feel pretty silly! Do any of you have colleagues that know you blog? How do you deal with other people in real life reading your blog?

like that stripe blazer :)

Love love the blazer. Sometimes it is good to throw away the "fashion book" and just break the rules and the end result as you learnt can be good. In the office I use to work, my colleagues will always come to peep under my desk to see what shoes I'm wearing this time round.

Well committing every fashion 'faux pas' clearly works because you look great! I have someone who recently discovered my blog and they keep offering to rewrite my posts...so annoying! I just try to smile and ignore it.

I absolutely love this look! No faux pas going on here! Ugh, sooooo many people at work know about my blog. I don't even talk about it with anyone but when surgeons are asking me about it I find it completely embarrassing. Thankfully, I wear scrubs to work so nobody is checking out what I have going on haha!

So cute and classy! Perfect way to style stripes and polka-dots together. :)
ReplyDeleteI really love how you combined the stripes and polka dots!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't have anyone who sees me on a daily basis and checks my blog so I'm lucky :)
This is a great look, Kelsey!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog over at Plane Pretty, and just spent a good half an hour looking through your posts... you have me hooked :)
You've got a great look (and such a sweet smile!) and I can't help but love west coast style (oh dear, I just rhymed by accident!)
I know what you mean about people in your everyday life finding out about your fashion blog. Sometimes I feel awkward talking about it, but most people are intrigued (or confused) and don't really give it much thought after that.
Have a beautiful day!

So many people at my college who I don't know read my blog and it's always slightly awkward when they first tell you. I try to stay confident about it since after all I never put anything up on my blog that I'm not proud of! It's nice to have support in real life sometimes.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you got so many compliments on this outfit though, girl! You look amazing!

This jacket is awesome! I love that it reminds me of Beatlejuice, but in the best (and most stylish) way possible!
ReplyDeleteTaking the risk definitely paid off because you look aaaaaamazing in this outfit!! I was sooooo afraid of people in real life knowing my blog, it took me 2 years to tell even my closest friends! At first it made me really really uncomfortable and shy with them, but after a while I got over it. Especially since they are so supportive!
