During one or two elementary school summers I attended what was ironically called "Summer Fun." I am willing to guess that if asked to write a short-essay about what was fun about the summertime, I'd have rather written the essay than participated in the Summer Fun program. If you have to capitalize fun, it's not going to be fun. Basic rule of thumb for all activities. The most distinct memory I can muster up that isn't making shrink wrapped plastic doodads and neon macrame gecko keychains is when I was pushed into a rock by a boy named Lionel and had my knee bandaged in a Casper bandaid. This summer I am looking forward to not attending any sort of guided activities and if I am doing crafts, they're not going to be gecko shaped. My summer fun dream now is not writing an essay in lieu of attending Summer Fun, but consists of warm weather and sitting by the seaside sipping rose wine and champagne sparklers in a cotton dress and some Free People sandals. I am pretty sure I am not going to shell out for some Free People sandals anytime soon, but I will be travelling back to Hawaii and in need of some new clothes for the warm weather.
