Mint Chocolate Chip Evening

Dress (similar 1, similar 2), sandals (similar): Forever 21; Necklace: c/o Lulu*s (similar)

Naturally, I came down with a cold on Friday morning and have been sniffling all weekend. I am hovering between glad that I didn't get sick during my first work week and angry that I got sick for my first weekend off of work. These pictures were taken this evening and we all have the sun to thank for brightening/whiting out my red, sniffly nose.

What is it about starting a new job that's so exhausting? Do you think it's the constant learning process, the mistake-making (what a brutal learning curve), or the name memorization? I am not entirely sure why doing new and foreign things makes me so uncomfortable, but I find myself living on the very promising thought that I will learn the job, will be good at what I do, and will learn everyone's name/how the office works/where the shred bin is/what I'm actually supposed to be doing at any given time. When I think about my fear of getting things wrong or embarrassing myself at work, it seems a bit silly, as I take a lot of pride in what I do, love my career track, and love learning new things... but there's something unnerving about new-ness nonetheless. There's certainly something to be said for sticking with your employer for as long as possible.

I've heard that it takes three to six months to fully learn the duties of a new job. If that's true, I might just stop getting up in the morning because that's a really long time from now. How do you guys cope with adjusting to new environments? Be it a new city, a new job, or new hobby? Do you embrace it, jump in, and come to terms with the awkward first few months? I'd love some tips from the pros out there that are aces at trying new things.

  3. Great look, love the pop of color!
I think it's awkward for everyone the first few months, I know it was for me in my current job. I felt like I was never going to get all the procedures, but I looked at everything in a positive way and worked really hard. Good luck in your new job!

  6. I love your necklace! I'm so into mint green accessories in general and this one is super fun. I think starting any new job is almost excruciating in the beginning, at least to me. I just push through the awkwardness and remember that I get to go home every day! I can see it taking 6 months to fully learn everything, but hopefully you feel good/comfortable much earlier than that!

  7. These photos are beautiful! I love the glowing light in them :) I have a hard time coping with new things as well. When I went on my internship I still felt like the newbie after the whole semester had passed. I wish I could give you tips, but I think I could use some handy tricks myself! x

  15. The bridal dresses by it might seem to become a bit little bit boring. You are able to benefit from some equipment like bridal jeweler, veils, and bouquets. The column wedding dresses are equipped to physique. It isn't a superb selection for all those brides who do not personal best physique designs. Apart from, it might prohibit the motion to a point and also you might not dance like typical. In any case, slender brides, each tall and quick appear great in column wedding dresses.

  18. love this look -- simple and super classy. i think starting a new job is stressful because EVERYTHING is new. it's so easy to get overwhelmed, so you should keep notes and make guides for yourself. try not to put extra pressure on yourself to be perfect and definitely ask for help!

good luck with your first few weeks on the job. you've got this!! :D
