The Sun and the Moon

Today, I had one of those nerdy adult-life moments of joy. I got my first vacuum. A Hoover WindTunnel Upright, my birthday gift from my parents. And I was elated.

It may seem weird that this was my first vacuum as I've been out of the house for six years now, but in college the houses I lived in either a) never were vacuumed or b) someone else had a vacuum that everyone collectively used. When we moved to our first apartment, we had wood floors and I relied on sweeping and a hand-held dirt devil and then I started borrowing my friend's awesome canister vacuum (thank you!).

I also need to clarify here that I LOVE vacuuming. It's so cathartic - watching dirt, hair, and weird floor dust get sucked up into a container and being able to empty it all out into a trash bin. It's a quick fix for problems and being able to vacuum away a weeks' worth of dirt somehow always makes me feel like I'm cleaning up a week's worth of stress and discomfort from my own life and tossing it out with the trash.

I hope I'm not the only weirdo here with a vacuuming obsession... tell me about your strange, mundane life loves too!
