Killin' It

Jacket: H&M (similar); Top: c/o Style Lately; Skirt: Ann Taylor; Heels: Michael Kors

I don't know if I've shared with you all that I'm on a diet. One of those "uh-oh, my pants feel tight and my outfit photos look... lumpier around the hips" type of diet. The "maybe wine every night is a bad idea" or the "too many brewery tours lately?" realization diet. Actually, maybe it was rediscovering that Portland is a poutine hotspot. Can you say miso and bacon gravy poutine? Or vegetable based gravy and goat cheese curd poutine? Okay, I'm super hungry again.

Anyway, I have finally lost some of the pounds that moving to Portland had packed on (I don't really show weight gain under 10 pounds very much as I'm tall, but I can usually feel it pretty well). Hallelujah. The first time I could actually see that I am looking a bit trimmer was in these photos. The Ann Taylor skirt I am wearing above is awesome, but it definitely shows problem areas in photos in the hip and thigh region. No thanks!

For me dieting consists of cutting out all the snacking in my day. I've stopped going for the bag of chips in the work snack cupboard. And the animal crackers. On top of my lunch. I've also started correctly portioning out my morning cereal (how is 1/2 a cup an actual portion size of cereal?!). And then for dinner, Ben and I have been focusing on leaner meals using tuna, salmon, or simple chicken curries. Of course, we top the night off with actual serving sizes of alcohol (wine is about 4-6 oz. per serving) or skip it altogether. On the weekends, I just eat what I want so that I can still enjoy myself. I have found that designating myself as the driver for brewery or bar expeditions cuts back on everything I imbibe. A natural and safe diet in itself.

Anyway, besides inanimate objects like my lipgloss looking like cheetos and peoples' heads looking like roast chickens ripe for the eating... it's going well! :)

  1. You look very feminine and very fit! Dieting might be the wrong word to use here, because I find all of the diets silly and full of restrictions, so it's all about the portion control, bit of logic and a weekend where you satisfy your munchies and then eat clean throughout the week.

  2. Ugh, I feel ya - Portland has seriously wreaked havoc on my body! I look back from pictures in Tahoe where I used to work out a lot and eat super clean and I'm like man, I looked awesome haha...but now, there is just too much good food to resist! It's a constant struggle but I'm hoping that Cam and I can get better about cooking more at home and eating fresh produce as the weather warms up and local things are in season at the farmer's market!

But you look awesome as usual and I feel like we're our own worst critics :)
