What is in a perfect day? Sunshine over a lazy channel, sprinkled with colorful houseboats. Ripe red cherries hanging from high branches, no ladder in sight. A field full of blueberries waiting to be picked. U-cut dahlias, four for a dollar. Sparrows and starlings and swallows singing over sheep-covered farms.
Summer in the Northwest is a drug. Can't give it up, no matter the (winter) lows.
