Starship Enterprise

Top: c/o Lulu*s; Jeans: Gap; Flats: Report

This weekend, Ben took me on a tour of the new OHSU building down on the waterfront. He now spends his days in this Starship Enterprise-esque building, full of sci-fi lights and stairs to nowhere, instead of in an old building by the hospital that, quite frankly, smelled like cadavers. We spent that Sunday morning, after some eggs benedict a la Ben, taking a mini tour of all the little nooks and crannies in the building right before the Portland temps up rose into the mid-nineties.

I couldn't resist wearing my new black jeans from Gap, even though the sun was shining and it was the opposite of black-jeans weather. They just feel so effortlessly cool, distressed, and perfect for fall. I am honestly constantly thinking of how to wear them next. Today I wore them with a simple soft grey tee and mint laser-cut flats on what was supposed to be an after-dinner stroll around Portland but turned into a 3.5 loop through the entire city and across our bridges. I'm dying to get a soft new boyfriend button down in dusty red and navy from Gap (this one, it's so soft!) to pair with a white cable knit sweater for cold weekends. I can also see these jeans with booties, with heels, with riding boots, with rain boots, with casual Friday attire.

Have you snagged any black denim this season? It's everywhere and I've picked out some great options in the mini-shop below (for high and low jean budgets).

  1. Yep, that building does look very Enterprise-y. Good thing you weren't wearing a red shirt.

  4. That building is soooo weird and cool! Awesome that you got
some indoor shots! Keep that one in mind for rainy day outfit pics, eh?

Black jeans are the first cooler weather item I pull out,
too, because they can be made fresh looking with a summery or neutral top –
    like yours, cute!

  7. I'm with Mon, I really love the lace detail on the tank. And the distressed denim jeans are the perfect pair on jeans. I can only imagine the use you will get out of them. XO

  10. I've been in the market for some distress, non-holey black jeans so thanks for sharing! BTW, that building looks so cool. Perhaps if I worked somewhere like that, I wouldn't dread going to work daily. Maybe.
