Pumpkin Spice

Ben and I got up and moving by 9 a.m. Saturday morning in order to hit the pumpkin patch before the masses of small children and their camera toting parents descended. By 9:30, we were deep in a field of perfect pumpkins (seriously, I have never seen such gorgeous pumpkins) at Columbia Farms on Sauvie Island. We usually pick our pumpkin patches based on the least-likelihood that they'll have a: maze, rides, candy corn, vendor booths, and masses of families. This means getting a bit deeper into farm country to hunt down the little family farms that are off the beaten path. We were thrilled about this farm - almost deserted in the early morning, tons of gorgeous pumpkins, amazing prices, and a gorgeous setting in the drizzling rain.

We actually went a bit pumpkin-wild due to all the prettiness and my house now resembles what the pumpkin patch looked like. Pumpkins as far as the eye can see. We picked up some Cinderella pumpkins, a Jaradale, a ton of weird gourds, some regular old pumpkins in all sizes. We attempted to get a white pumpkin but they were massive and would have likely toppled over our car.

(I also thought it'd be funny to reflect on the rest of my pumpkin patch trips on the blog and thought I'd link my 2012 and 2013 visits here. Looks like I forgot my usual plaid scarf!)

  3. Absolutely stunning! I visited a pumpkin patch here in Arizona over the weekend as well, and they are quite different here out west (pumpkins don't grow here.) So I am very envious of your scenic pumpkin patch! ;) Xo, Alison

  7. Pumpkin patch!! I love pumpkins! It's such a cliche but it's true, anything pumpkin just had my name on it, esp. nice, warm pumpkin soup :)
