In partnership with Zappos, I styled these Paige Denim jeans and Freebird boots.
I usually am so excited for the holidays that by the time Halloween has been swept out the door (or swept into the complex's recycling/trash area), I am foaming at the mouth to start decorating my entire apartment in holiday twinkling lights and red candles and pretty boughs of evergreen. I've been known to shed a tear in anticipation of the holidays in September. But this means that I often miss the complete magic of that in-between time - Fall.
This year, I was totally turned around as the weather stayed warm through early October. The rain didn't set in until long after the summer sun had started setting earlier and earlier. My fall and winter boxes remained packed away. My down coats, shoved unceremoniously in the back of the closet. So when Halloween pumpkins were just starting their melting-style rapid rot into the porch and kitchen counter, I wasn't particularly ready yet for November to bring in its festive joy. But I was ready for the falling leaves and the awesome jeans and boots and scarves combos that are our gift from October and early November.
On November 1st I found myself digging through some old, pilled tights wondering what on earth I was going to wear in the miserably rainy chilly that ushered in November. I still had sleeveless dresses and blouses shoved underneath old cardigans on as late as... well, today. But by the grace of Zappos' amazingly fast next day shipping, these Paige Denim jeans and these Freebird boots arrived and made for the most lovely, perfect pieces to solidify that the Fall is truly upon us. One of my favorite things about my new boots from Freebird, aside from their buttery leather smell and absolute comfort, is the construction. They're handcrafted using Goodyear construction where stacks of leather are used to create an indestructible sole. In the same vein, these jeans from Paige are epic. Paige's mission is one I can get behind - they create live-in jeans meant to go from morning to moonlight and well tested so that every style is perfect.
Stomping around in a stacked heel in the low forty degree weather we've just welcomed in, the smell of gorgeous leather following me, I think that its finally setting in. My appreciation for fall. Out with the twinkly lights, in with the fall leaves candles, and time to stock up on those pretty pieces you miss all summer long.

I experienced the same thing this year too - the weather stayed warm so long, but then it hit and things seemed to change overnight! It snuck up on us...but since it has, I've been in full-swing holiday mode. Hope you feel the same! :) Xo, Alison
