New Jeans

Sweater: Gap; Jeans: Gap; Bangle: Kate Spade; Necklace: Sparkle Pop (old); Heels: Michael Kors (similar)

Jean shopping can be a touchy experience for many people. I know I've spent an hour in the dressing room trying on every single pair of jeans in a store, only to have Ben say "eh, I don't particularly like any of those." Cue angry tears. I've had big fights with my hips, thighs, calves, butt, entire body, spurred on by a bad pair of jeans. I had an awesome time period where I had no clue what jeans worked with my not-high-school-anymore body. I wore American Eagle jeans on the skinny days, Gap jeans on the less-forgiving days, and then tried my hand at some crummy TJ Maxx bargain finds for the days where I felt comfortable with a too-baggy crotch and too-short hem. Ick.

I found the first pair of jeans that I truly loved when the Gap changed their fit and styles around during late-college. I wore the heck out of a pair of jeans and eventually was left with one pair. I think I subsisted off of one pair of jeans for about a year before I started hunting for some new jeans. Gap jeans joined my collection again, as well as a pair of Paige Denim that I fell madly in love with. Still a huge fan of how they fit me. My jean collection now consists of two pairs of Paige Denim (Kylie crop and Skyline skinnies - on sale!), a set of Gap boyfriend jeans in white and a light wash, a pair of Gap always skinnies, and these brand-spankin'-new Gap "True Resolution" jeans. I realize at this point that this post sounds really sponsored, but it's not! Just got jeans on the brain this evening.

The key to loving jean shopping (seriously, I love it), is to know your brand! Know what works on your body. And if nothing seems to, start splurging. Go designer and own just one pair of jeans (in lieu of 4 pairs of cheap, ill-fitting denim). I love Gap because there's no real splurge required to wear some great fitting denim for me, but when in doubt, I've relied on Paige to make me feel beautiful. Once you find your brand, cross your fingers, hope they never change their sizing and then buy all the pairs you can find so you never run out.

As a plug for the jeans I have on above - they are mid-rise jeans which seriously flatters the butt, they come in every wash you could want (white, pink, dark wash, light wash, you name it), and they're way flattering!

  11. I thankfully have not had to go jean shopping in a while because I got several jeans through Stitch Fix in various colors (and somehow the stylists all got me ones that fit wonderfully). Jean shopping really is the worst (well ok, maybe only swimsuit shopping is worse)- and it's true that once you find the brand that fits your body, you become totally loyal!
