In following so many style bloggers on Instagram, I am always amazed at how stylishly they travel. While I wasn't about to wear heels on the plane, I opted to wear something a bit dressier than the usual: jeans, hoodie, tee, heaviest-shoes-to-save-on-packing-room, and did my hair in a bun to preserve it from getting a limp, static-cling look on the plane. The blazer and top ended up providing much needed layering options for when we arrived in Hawaii in the heat and the loose chiffon blouse was perfect for the humidity. I was happy to be able to arrive to Kona in style and not feel embarrassed about my outfit when we arrived at the hotel.
The first image above is actually of Maui, when we landed for a quick layover, but it gives a good idea of the tropical waters we flew into. In Kona, despite some cloud-cover we checked in and immediately hit the beach after taking these photos. Parked in two lounge chairs with an umbrella over them, we got some much needed salt water splashing about and then followed it up with pool drinks. All in all it was an arrival into paradise, the turquoise ocean, and the perfect start to the vacation!
