I'm sitting at home watching old episodes of ANTM today and watching the gorgeous weather blow by outside. I came down with another cold this past week. Ugh! What's up with this city? It seems to be slamming me with sickness. What that means in practice is that I didn't actually wear this outfit anywhere today, but when I styled it, it got me thinking about that four-letter acronym that has everyone in a tizzy this week. NYFW.
New York Fashion Week means very little to me - which might be weird, because I blog about my personal style. But it seems like this elusive thing happening across the world that famous bloggers in high heels fly out to enjoy. Fashion week also means very expensive clothes that fly down the runway setting the trends for the season to come (usually delayed a bit as I don't think trends hit the West coast for, say, a year or two). I think I also understand very little of the practical elements of NYFW - how does one get invited? Where do you go? How are those front row seats distributed? Are you supposed to wear that specific designer to the designer's show? Kate Spade to Kate Spade? Doesn't that seem a bit... obvious? Is fashion week casual or dressy? Can you wear flats? Are there band-aid stations? Clearly I don't really know what's happening over there in noisy New York City. (Also, do you all know? Have you been? Now I'm curious!)
My confused pondering has had me thinking about what I'd wear to fashion week, and I definitely think the stunners of the street-style photos are always the perfect, all-black tailored outfits that look like they're neither trying too hard nor too casual. So that's today's outfit inspiration - some kind of miles-away fashion week imitation.
What would you wear that's currently in your closet (no last-minute shopping allowed)?
