A lot of people feel burdened working in an office environment that's business casual or professional attire. But I absolutely love having a wardrobe that is made up of blazers, jackets, button downs, pencil skirts and slacks. It makes pulling on jeans on casual Fridays or on the weekends a fun affair. And wearing tanks or tees an amazing weekend event.
I'm currently working in an anything-goes office. And now I live in Portland. Heels are rare (unless they're a heeled clog... shudder!) and fleeces are way way way too common. I'm trying not to let Portland break me and my sense of style, so even in my office environment and even though I've let jeans into my mid-week wardrobe, I'm trying to hold onto my business style!
This weekend I picked up this lovely new wool blend skirt at Ann Taylor (they're having a massive sale) and these Michael Kors heels from Macy's (also massively on sale) and was so happy to feel professional again. I do think there is an art to dressing professionally and still maintaining your sense of style which is where my Avon signature tote and striped jacket come into the equation. Spicing up a simple pencil and chocolate flats with some prints always makes me feel a little less stodgy and button up.
Happy Monday!
