The first day of a new year holds so much promise - the entire year is within hand's reach. It feels possible to make everything amazing, new, whole, and clean again.
So what better day than the first day of 2014 for a move to a new apartment. Ben and I spent last night (happy new year!) moving our big furniture into the house and evening essentials like soap, shampoo, and dinner. We then sat down to movies and a bottle of champagne on ice to ring in the new year in the best place we could think to be - together.
This morning we started moving the less fun things into the house, those that make a mess instead of a pretty new layout. The pictures, the little hair ties and pieces of wayward jewelry, the exercise mats and the Christmas lights, the glassware and the candy, the boxes full of cords, and the clothes, clothes, clothes. And now we're sitting in a crazy, chaotic apartment that's slowly starting to come together, but our aching backs and calves (this apartment is multi-story) just want to lay down and sleep.
I'm finishing up my last two days at work Thursday and Friday and then it's on to my next adventure! I'm so happy to be starting this year with an entirely fresh slate in the form of both my work and my walls. Wish me luck!
