C'est La Vie

Top: Gap; Skirt: c/o Lulu*s; Heels: c/o Lulu*s; Necklace: Smart Couture

This amazing candy-colored necklace came in the mail today courtesy of a giveaway win from Elizabeth Keene and Smart Couture just as the sun was setting. Ben suggested we rush out for the last few minutes of the golden hour to take some photos. What perfect timing. (And what a perfect Ben.)

Today it was 75 degrees and perfectly sunny. Fuzzy yellow goslings were swimming in the river on my walk to and from work. The wind picked up and blew around leaves and little seed pods that danced along the waterfront path. People lay in the grass reading, staring out at the breeze blowing fishing skiffs by. Birds sat in newly leafy trees and twittered.

The sunshine and lengthening days seem to both speed up time and slow it down. Each day seems longer and more fulfilled, more evenings spent wandering sidewalks and waterfront paths. Yet the days, stacked together, seem like minutes. Just a few hours ago, it seems, was February and now we're barreling into May, spring flowers almost gone. Tomorrow it will be July and then we'll be headed into those dreary months of rain and chill and another year will seem like a blink.

I'm inclined to think this whole life is some magic ticking clock dotted with the most beautiful of seconds, some terribly agonizing hours, and lifetimes crammed into one or two months worth of time. C'est la vie.

Also, you are seriously a great writer...I know lots of people read your blog for the pretty photos, but I really enjoy reading your posts! And seriously, how is it May?! Won't be long until we've both been Portland residents for a year! :)
