Get Leggy

I have an embarrassing story for you today. I'm a cheap, one-blade razor and bar soap kind of leg-shaver. I don't know if it was the Northwest's rain and constant jean-season, the complacency of a long-term relationship, or the not-having-a-large-expendable-income part of my life that caused this... but it's true. When I went to Target to pick up some Skintimate shave gel and a Shick reusable razor to get some silky legs, I felt like I was living in luxury. And then I used it tonight to shave my sad legs that are dying for some moisture and smooth blade action and I really felt luxurious. Ben even remarked: "wow, your legs are SOFT." This doesn't happen often because most often my legs are alright, okay, and freckly, but never "wow SOFT." I mean, there's a noticeable difference. I no longer feel like a creepy lizard.

When did it get this bad people? When did I sacrifice my legs for the good of my wallet? When did I stop using shave gel? It's worrying me as I type. But the point of this embarrassing story isn't to dwell on the deprived past but to prep for a more smooth and pretty-legged future.

I tried out these Sally Hansen nail products from Target (including Triple Shine polish, Big Matte top coat, Color Foil polish, Complete Salon manicure polish, a white nail art pen, and a nail art marbling kit) after I turned my legs into shining beacons of softness. Time for some metallic toes to show off my strappy sandals on hot days when my smoking loafers/covered heels are no longer cutting it for "cute and summer appropriate" attire.

As soon as I applied this metallic polish (I haven't bought metallic polishes in ages), I was transported back in time to summer vacations spent with my grandmother. She always wore the same shade of polish on her nails and toes - a metallic rose gold that shimmered against her fair skin and platinum blonde curls. I remember her painting my toes for the summer and feeling like a fairy princess wearing rose gold all over my toes. I can't help but think of my grandmother's sweet smell, her pretty, breezy porch, and summers spent wandering her beach when I put it on. For the rest of the week, looking down at my toes, I think I am going to just flat out smile.

After you head to Target and go Target-crazy (we are all prone to spending $200 on a whim there, aren't we?) all over Sally Hansen's newest nail products, be sure to enter the Instagram contest starting tomorrow. Details below and $2,250 of Target gift cards to win awaits.

    3. I too have been a cheap, one-blade razor soap kind of leg shaver. I think it's the Portland weather that drives us to it ;) Great post!
