I've got that icky, getting-sick feeling and have had it since about 2 p.m. today when my lymph nodes started whining and my body started feeling tired and weak. The only momentary-cure was snuggling my cat deeply and until he was angry and retired to hide underneath the bed. That and a breakfast-for-dinner meal prepared by Ben while I complained and wrapped myself up in a blanket. A bit of elk sausage (freshly caught by a friend), savory french toast with a parmesan sauce, and some sautéed olives was just enough to make me feel a little less measly.
Other than getting some kind of ebola-y disease (jk!), I've been having a great and relaxing weekend. It was crazy windy and blustery, but we got in some good movies and completed some productive errands. Other than meeting a new blogger-friend for lunch today at Whole Foods (after browsing the Christmas decor at West Elm), Ben and I picked out his wedding band today. Let me tell you... shopping for a wedding band with a man that doesn't wear jewelry is a unique sort of nightmare I'm not keen to repeat. Besides the one-word answers, general distaste of any band at all, and inability to cheerily accept precious metals - we did successfully get a ring that Ben "meh"-ed at instead of openly vomited at and we're done. I can't wait for the sentimental little circle to come in the mail so we can start up another "I hate rings" conversation. For any of you that were forced to endure this process with an unhappy groom, I feel for you and I've been there. Honestly, I'm ready to look into melting it down and making a trinket for myself when it arrives. Thoughts? :)
Hope you all had fantastic weekends!

I love your jacket, and pairing it with stripes is perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove the red nails, so classic! Also, I can totally picture the whole ring situation...let's just say Cam's not a fan of actually wearing his...the struggle is real. Ha.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all congratulations! And your engagement ring is a beauty! I guess I was lucky because my groom was quite keen to have a band and knew just what he wanted... although I said to him all along I didn't mind if he had one at all (my dad never wore one so I guess I wouldn't have found it strange) - don't worry your husband will get very used to it very quickly as soon as it's on his finger :)

That french toast sounds delightful! F and I also had a hard time with wedding bands- in the end, we picked out a band that was made using a quarter with our birthyear on it. Which 5 years later, he doesn't wear at all, but he carries it around with him in his backpack. At least at one point he was excited about it because of it's unique story, for maybe 1 year...
ReplyDeleteMy husband isn't a jewelry guy either, but we found a nice thick basic band that he loved. Your husband will come to love his ring too, just like he loves you! :)
ReplyDeleteElk! My family is hunters and I grew up on elk and deer meat. It's fun to hear someone else eating the same even though I don't anymore. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so lovely, and congratulations on finding an acceptable band for your man!! When we went shopping for ours a few years ago, it was so easy. We had them made from the engagement ring he gave me 30 years ago: the gold went into his band, and the diamond went into my ring. (We are such good recyle/reuser Oregonians!) But the time in between - well, that's a whole 'nother story. ♥
ReplyDeleteHa! I went through the whole band thing too and in the end (13 years later) my husband is still wearing his band.... They always come around!
