A Week of Mondays

Do you ever feel like you're living a succession of Mondays? I'm a two week span of Mondays right now and I'd really like to hit Friday so that I can be done. I have exciting weekend plans on the horizon (they're hush hush for a friend's privacy until Saturday evening) and I am working my way through a giant wedding calligraphy suite and corresponding materials and am almost done. So there is an end in sight. But it's an end that is coming on the heels of the most irritating week.

How do you know it's a Monday sort of day? Everything that can go wrong, does. If your cat can get sick, he will. If your kitten can get poop stuck to her butt and drag it around the living room right when you're eating breakfast, she will. If your pasta can get overcooked, it will. If you have a cup of coffee, you'll spill it. If you try to send off a final logo to a client, you will have forgotten to add her tagline. If you can splatter an invite with ink, you will. If you can fire off an email to the wrong person, it's going to happen. If you can have a blow-up in a morning meeting at your colleagues, warning, you will.

I'm pretty sure this is a sign that I'm over-extended. The little mistakes and mishaps and misses are all results of not being calm and focused enough to just breathe and handle things normally. I don't normally knock over coffee cups, but when I'm rushing around trying to eat breakfast, clean a cat, and finish a client's order, I am more prone to knocking a cup off the table. When I'm flustered and strapped for time, ink splatters happen on final pieces. When I can't turn my eye to the cat that is scooting around the living room floor because I'm splattering ink, I'll have a mess to clean up.

Perhaps the best way to usher in a Friday rather than a Monday is to say no to a lot of those Monday tasks I've been doing!
