Quiet Life

A friend of mine recently commented on an Instagram photo that I should feature an apartment tour on the blog. With no sunlight in sight, a busy work week, and Skyfall playing in the background, it seemed like the perfect time to feature my apartment instead of my wardrobe. I've seen some established bloggers feature their living spaces recently and can't hold a candle to their well decorated apartments, but I hope that my pretty new orchid blossoms make up for the lack of gorgeous DIY and old family photos displayed in the house.

Our "dinner for two" dining room table (drop-leaf, found while antiquing), upon which is perched my Riedel Pinot Noir glasses full of, gasp, Bordeaux! Guests often comment that it looks like a restaurant and we do feel romantically ensconced in light (just as if we're on a movie date) when we sit at it.

My trifecta of Apple products - iPhone (Tory Burch case), Macbook complete with Totoro decal, and iPad sitting on Juicy Couture iPad sleeve.

This little end table in the living room (World Market) is on African art duty this month, featuring my brand new "Mother and Baby Elephant" sculpture from Zimbabwe. Hooray for adult Christmas presents that make beautiful additions to my home.

Though the canopy serves as a playing location for the cat and something to constantly and accidentally rip off of the ceiling... it does make a nice photo! Also meet my wrong-for-my-age and impossible love for stuffed animals (the elephant is brand new).

Bedside table replete with Target lamp, Junot Diaz's This is How You Lose Her, a Lily Pulitzer frame won in a giveaway and waiting for a photo, and World Market bud vase

I'm a bit of an orchid... haver (I can't say grower if I buy them all, can I?), but these new blossoms are off of a new spike on both one of my newest and my oldest Phalenopsis that just appeared this winter. Aren't they gorgeous?

And finally the jewelry box featuring a mess of pearls, jade, and quartz, and some new additions. Featured in the second photo is a beautiful dandelion necklace from CP for Christmas, a gorjana small bar necklace in sterling from 6pm.com, and a pretty sterling ring that my boyfriend got me over the holiday.

  1. I love the lights and how it's like your own little restaurant! And I confess that I have stuffed animals too :)

  3. I love the elephants on your side table! And I see Dance with Dragons, too. I'm about 1/3 of the way through it, and then we will have to wait patiently for a few years for book 6!
