Evergreen

I talked in the last post about how green this city is, and as you can see from the photos above, there are trees everywhere. So many city blocks are lined with trees, or are near tiny parks, or are devoted green spaces that it is just lovely to walk around. This morning we walked to the Portland Farmer's Market that spanned maybe two city blocks and was full of vendors selling cured meats, cheeses, freshly caught fish, fresh eggs, every single kind of vegetable, lunch and breakfast, honeys, candles, and pastries. We were blown away at the size of the market housed right on the Portland State University campus. It was bustling! I picked up a gorgeous bouquet for the table and Ben bought some lavender to add into cocktails. We also bought giant heads of lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, fresh macarons in lemon and cocoa raspberry, fresh squeezed lemonade, blueberries and peaches. The produce was too good to resist.

After the market we headed out to do some errands and capped the night off with a walk into the city in search of happy hours. We visited Bluehour, a restaurant in the Pearl District with a nice patio and even nicer happy hour menu. We split a blue cheese burger and enjoyed moscow mules and local IPA. It was the perfect evening and to make it even better, we hopped across the street to buy some new bestsellers at Powell's Books - the most wonderful bookstore in, well, the world. I calculated our walk today and it looks like we did about five miles on our feet just strolling about the city! Not bad!

I haven't gone yet, but I've heard such great things so I'm really looking forward to checking it out once we move in next month! Also my in-laws were just telling me about that Two Tarts place the other day and said it's awesome! Beautiful photos btw! xoxo
