Cable Knit Repeat and Remedy Flight Nights

Sweater, pants: Gap; Heels: c/o Lulu*s; Bracelet: Macy's

My Gap work staples are making a lot of appearances on the blog lately, but in the gloomy, rainy weather, I usually rely on favorite wardrobe items to get me out the door in the morning. I'm sorry for the repeats, but when it comes to getting out the front door at 7:30 a.m. in the pouring rain and 40 degree weather, dressed, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. These cropped plaid slacks have become a work favorite and my usual Subway lunchtime cashier even complimented me on them this morning. A win!

I cajoled Ben into taking these photos of me in the few minutes between leaving the house for work and complete darkness, so we only snapped a couple before both dashing out. I can't stand this time of the year for blogging purposes. I need an indoor studio or a job that allows me to be home all day... Alas! You have to suffer with these repeated, hasty photos in the meantime.

Committed to not just one set of terrible photos for this post, I also wanted to share with you an event I went to this Tuesday with Jane (naturally) of In the Pink and Green to a wine bar in the NW park blocks in Portland. Jane was invited to a "Mighty Malbecs Tuesday night flights" tasting at Remedy Wine Bar, opened just six months ago north of Burnside. Remedy holds tastings on Tuesdays with two paired flights of different wines, offering a comparison. On the night we attended, they were comparing two styles of malbec. Though I only tried the first flight, it was absolutely delicious, and I found myself totally re-inspired to add malbec back into my wine collection.

One of the best things about the event, besides the addictive snacks (think amazing meat and cheese plates, warm olives, and cheesy bits - some rogue creamery blue cheese dusted heavenly snacks), was getting to meet the owners, chefs, and brains behind the offerings at Remedy. I loved speaking with the wine guy who debunked the wine shortage myth for us (thank god!) and gave us some suggestions for Thanksgiving dinner. If you haven't had the opportunity to go somewhere local and hear the owners and employees talking passionately about their business, I absolutely suggest networking at meet and greet opportunities. The enthusiasm is infectious.

The reason the photos above are so atrocious is that upon arriving at the wine bar, my camera decided its battery pack was inexplicably dead and I was left to the devices of my afraid-of-low-light iPhone camera. Please excuse the photos and just know that you need to head to Remedy for wine and cheesy bits ASAP. Also head over to Jane's blog to read her post and view her much higher quality photos of the event.
