What did I do on this long weekend?
I waited out the PDX boil at a brewery with whiskey and IPA. I strolled second-hand shops searching for a wall mirror. I spent too long crying about the series finale of Dawson's Creek (I just finally got around to finishing it). I worked on the blog a bit (kinda, sorta) by adding my recently purchased items to a "shop" tab and making a beauty tab.
I tidied the house and enjoyed some gin and tonics. I wandered down the waterfront to watch the Portland City Fair's masses. I painted my nails. I spent a day with a good friend, eating various Portland treats and sharing secrets.
Long weekends are pretty magical. I spent hours on the phone with my mom, wedding planning, without it cutting into precious weekend chore/activity time. And I watched countless episodes of bad TV without feeling guilty. I didn't worry about waking early, or waking late, and ended up waking at the perfect time each morning. I got to watch the sun rise and set in our apartment. Smelled a fresh rain fall.
There's magic and promise in just one extra day, made all the sweeter by the short week ahead as we tie up May in a pretty, sunny bow, and say hello to June.
