Today I spent the day volunteering at a local church for a back to school carnival that was focused on helping kids in need get sports physicals, immunizations, vision and blood pressure screenings, and then back to school supplies. It was a huge event, with over 1500 people registered and long lines everywhere. My boyfriend, who runs a free, urgent-care clinic, volunteered our services as one of the clinics board members was running the back to school event. I spent most of the day asking cute kids what sports they were going to play, how they were doing, and then corralling them to into nurses offices and provider's rooms. We worked from 8-3 p.m. and had a great lunch of hot links and fries from the carnival's concession. I am exhausted from standing on my feet all day.
To be fair, I wasn't wearing the outfit above (then my feet would really have been sore), but was in khakis and a shirt of my boyfriend's. It was kind of fun to abandon the style bit of the day and just hang out in sneakers and run around looking sweaty and not-put-together for a little while (with a bunch of other, sweaty, not-put-together people). How has your weekend been so far?
