Blue Steel

Top, skirt, belt: H&M (top); Shoes: Anne Klein

I just love this button down from H&M - it instantly classed up and made fresh the pencil skirt I wear on a regular basis (CP feels the same about her similar button down). This look made me feel powerful and corporate, which is a good thing at work, but not so great, it turns out, in my personal life. Recently, I've been feeling like the work world of deadlines and meetings, words like synergize and module, and my constant hookup to my Outlook email and calendar, have been sucking me dry, creatively. I used to write poetry on a daily basis, take photos creatively rather than just for the blog, and write my own personal blog about wine, rather than style.  Now I just come home and flop down on the couch (after cleaning up after my boyfriend's crumbs and candy wrappers) and watch TV, work with the blog, or catch up on magazines. I have a hard time getting into creative pursuits like drawing, writing, personal blogging, or reading.

Tonight I got off of work a bit early and came home to a quiet, empty house. I took the time to fool around with some water color pencils and drew a small scene (it looked like a five year old's creation), which made me feel infinitely better and more productive. I then got sucked into Game of Thrones for a good four hours, so it curtailed my progress, but I am hopeful. Here's to more creative endeavors in the future!
