Bridgetown Night Out

Ben and I decided to try out a new happy hour spot this after I got off work and headed into the Pearl to Oven and Shaker (hence the informal outfit photos). It's a cocktail and pizza place that has a really pretty table layout and big bay windows that open onto the street. We had a delicious fennel sausage pizza and some creative cocktails. Ben had a yellow pepper juice and chili cocktail (the Yellow Pepper Smash) and I had a fresh basil, lemon and clover honey drink called the Basil Collins. So good. The tastes were totally different and it was a fun mini taste-adventure for the afternoon. We've really been enjoying the past week as it's Ben's Fall break from school and while he is still studying during the day, we are getting to spend quality time together during the mornings and afternoons.

Walking through the city every day, I get to see a lot of human behavior that I really don't care for. The two big habits that I am bothered by every single day are: smoking and spitting. The horrible double s's of cities gifted by the cities inconsiderate masses. At least once a day, a giant blast of cigarette smoke (by one of the inconsiderate and countless smokers) is blown into my face by a passerby. And more than once a day someone spits on the street in front of, next to, near me and I have to dodge the glob of disgusting spit. Does anyone else feel like people think its cool to be rude? Perhaps I'm just noticing it now that it's a pet peeve, but what gives? Can I walk in spit and smoke-free peace?

  7. This looks like such a fun happy hour!! I've always wished I had time to go to happy hours with my boyfriend and try new things, you really inspire me to try. I totally know what you mean about the smoke and spit. I have to admit that the spit is especially disturbing, why do people spit in the first place?! I just don't get it?!?!
