Atomic Cowboy

You've already heard me whine about traveling enough, so instead of focusing on the horror that is air-travel, I'll focus on some of the good. I flew out to Denver (with Ben!) in the wee hours of Saturday morning for a work trip turned semi-vacation. The last time I traveled for work, I just flew in and out of Denver (what is it with Denver?) in about 36 hours and had absolutely zero fun. I realized that the privilege of being sent on an expenses-paid trip across the country shouldn't be squandered laying about in a hotel room, but should actually incorporate fun.

We met up with our good friends, stayed with them for a night, and traveled around the city sight-seeing. We had an awesome night on my birthday, picnicking indoors and strolling about the very hot city. Ben carried on his vacation Monday and Tuesday but visiting our friend's medical school, driving out to the Coors brewery and touring other, smaller Golden, Colorado breweries. On Tuesday he got a glimpse of Red Rocks, had some more beer downtown and ate out with a high school friend. I, sadly, was training a new colleague all day and did not get to imbibe as much beer as everyone else...

Monday night after work, our friends took us to a three-in-one restaurant space called Atomic Cowboy. They house some awesome biscuits, great beers, and Fat Sully's pizza. We ordered a pizza that was literally the size of a tire (on a small car) - 26" and all picked a topping and then attempted to conquer that which was unconquerable. The pizza box I am carrying above contains just one slice... that's how big it was. Oof. After eating ourselves silly and drinking a great Elevation IPA from Denver, we rolled ourselves out to the car and into a gorgeous sunset. I couldn't help forcing Ben to take some outfit photos.

I am back in PDX now and so happy to feel the cool air and humidity on my skin! Back to the grind!
