Winter Blues

Jacket: c/o Joules; Top: Ann Taylor; Pants: Gap; Boots: Sperry Topsider

I am not sure if I've gushed about (one of) my (all-time) favorite show on the blog, but this past week, it became a thing of the past. The series finale was late last week and I got around to watching it, and the preceding three episodes on Saturday. If you could have seen my face on Saturday, you could easily guess what show. But since you weren't all sitting in the tear puddle I created for myself, I'll just say it.

Goodbye, Parenthood!

Saturday was a gorgeous day, light streaming in, the entire apartment to myself with Ben off studying. I was planning to perhaps walk to the market for some flowers, to clean the entire house including vacuuming the stairs, complete a calligraphy logo order, write my guest blog posts for a new company I'm working with, and get my own outfit posts, tutorials, etc. all set for the coming week. While I did scrub the kitchen within an inch of its life... the knowledge that there were Parenthood episodes waiting for me, on my computer, just across the living room, was inevitably too much to handle. From noon to 4 p.m. I cried my way through the show. No alcohol involved, seriously. I just sobbed my way through the end of my best friend's character's lives. Guess what didn't get done? Everything but cleaning the kitchen. Small battles, I suppose. Guess what did get done? Giant under-eye bags from crying.

If you're a fan of the show, you're probably not surprised by the crying. It has been an every-single-episode tearjerker for me since episode one. And not because they're sad, but because they're so full of happiness and tender family moments. Ben is always confused when he walks in the room to some ugly tears and Parenthood's theme song playing away, but it's one of those things that I doubt most men understand. Getting that wrapped up in a fictional family on TV with some beautiful children and fantastic family dinners might be one of the remaining "girl" things out there.

Are you Parenthood fans? How did you take the finale? Any other shows that make you as blubbery?

  9. That's good storytelling: Fiction that can get us so wrapped up that we feel like we know the characters.

  10. Im a big fan of quilted look items, but I've tried a couple of them on and it just doesn't suit me. I love the way this looks on you, but I need some help trying to style them better.
