Fresh

Dress: c/o Chicwish
Shoes: c/o Born

I feel restless. I've been tossing and turning at night - unable to just fall asleep for long stretches at a time. I'm bored with a lot of different things: my home decor and furniture arrangement. I've watched everything on Netflix and then some. Even my cereal feels like it's getting dull. I suspect that feeling is to blame for a blog overhaul and it has resulted in a much needed surge of energy for blogging. I feel inspired to actually create posts rather than dread having to come up with something new.

I'm trying to that sort of purge in other areas of my life too. This weekend I deep cleaned my bedroom - organized my calligraphy desk and pile of papers, organized the bookshelves and vacuumed the accumulated dust up. I got rid of things that just don't fit anymore, took down art that was always meant to be a placeholder and reframed some photos. It felt good to have a space that was free of dust and pet dander and things that I don't need anymore. The space feels open and clean - enough room to let me think about what I'm revamping next.

On top of cleaning, I started working out again and decided to try something entirely new: running. I've never run in my life (save for the few times I was forced to run the mile in high school and failed miserably at it) and so this has felt brand new to me. Every day has the potential for a (albeit very small) PR. It feels good to have something brand new to look forward to every single day. Like a rush of cool evening breeze blowing through a hot house.

Here's to getting my energy back!

  3. If you're just starting running and have a race in mind, you should check out Hal Higdon's training guides. They're free online and really helpful.

  4. Good for you for trying new things! I have to shake things up several times a year to keep from falling into ruts.

  5. Good for you, Kelsey! I am digging the new blog look and name (!). Best of time year to start running. I am always so much more motivated and excited about it when it is beautiful outside.

  6. Love this LBD and the shoes are so cute! I can't remember if I told you or not but I love the new blog look/concept!! Also, if you are looking for a project, you're welcome to come Kondo my house...ha...only sort of joking though...it's definitely a lot harder to find time to organize between naps! Also, I'd totally be down for going running sometime - I'm trying to get back into it myself :)

  8. Good for you for making a few changes to shake up your life! I culled three sacks of clothes from my closet last week and it felt so damn good. Maybe it's something in the air!

  9. I can relate to needing to purge in order to find renewed spirit and vigor. My husband and I have been on a kick of taking as much to Goodwill as we can once a week for the past month or so. I think that may say more about the sheer amount of useless stuff we keep piled up in our home. Oops. Bravo to you for making positive changes, cheers! :-)

Gluten-free. Vegetarian. Lipstick. Of course this exists. (Says the guy who buys his non-fluoride toothpaste at Whole Foods.)
