Sunday Morning Rain is Falling

This weekend, starved for some social time, Ben and I (read: I) decided to host a party with some other med school couples. It was a good opportunity to clean our house, drink moscow mules, and eat prosciutto. I made some heavy appetizers - a cheese board with different cheeses from around the world, garlic-stuffed olives and pickles, crackers, caprese on a baguette, and edamame. Ben made his own ginger syrup for moscow mules and we all enjoyed a few bottles of wine. I think most of one of those bottles can be attributed to me and I'm suffering a bit of a headache this morning. Trying to cure it with loads of delicious coffee and tomato juice and terrible TV.

We're always taken aback by the similarities we share with other couples in the med school process and it seems so relieving to have someone to share woes with. Of the two couples that came over, one has been married for less than a year and the other is planning their summer wedding. We all shared stories about the planning process and trying to work around the deadlines and stress of a first-year med student and the financial struggles that come along with it. Misery does love company.

It's nice to have a party under our belts and a clean house to laze around in. The rain has been falling all weekend, which hasn't been conducive to going out and doing much, but I don't mind weekends indoors in the winter when there is plenty of Dawson's Creek left. I wouldn't mind having that extra hour of sleep back, but I suppose today I'll settle for some PJs all day and maybe a nap!
